ACNPN Commiserates With Alenkhe On His Mother's Demise

The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, (ACNPN), Edo State Chapter has paid a sympathy visit to the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Festus Alenkhe over the recent death of his mother, Mrs. Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe.

In his remark, Chairman of ACNPN, Deacon Ralph Okhiria who led other members on the condolence visit said the late woman was a mother to all journalists in the state.

According to ACNPN chairman, "the Bible tells us to rejoice with those that are rejoicing and to mourn with those that are mourning. So, we are here with you to condole you over the recent demise of your beloved mother.

"We pray that God almighty will grant you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and  enable you to give your mother a befitting burial.

"We shall give you all the necessary support before and during the burial ceremonies because as the number one journalist in the state, we cannot abandon you to your fate".

He further said that no one can stop death when God say it is time for one to die, adding that it is a debt which we all inherited at birth that must be paid one way or another.

Continuing, Deacon Okhiria noted that Mrs. Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe lived a godly life, "I have no doubt that she is presently at bosom of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

He, however admonished Comrade Alenkhe to encourage himself in the Lord as He is the only one that can give him peace and all that he requires to overcome his present challenge and urged him to be more closer to God at this trying time.

In his response, Comrade Festus Alenkhe thanked the association for the visit. He said the association have always been dear to his heart, even as he recounted how he was honoured by the association in 2012  and 2014 with awards of "Best Crimes Reporter of the Year" with cash backing.

He said he was looking forward to one day when he will equally reciprocate and say thank to the association.

He disclosed that a-five-day burial programme for his late mother, has been scheduled to begin on December 7, 2022 at Ishan and Benin City, respectively..

Also present at the visit were the  Secretary, Comrade Ehichioya Stephen Odion, Comrade Oray Osawe, Comrade Joshua Igberaese and Comrade Enoma Omorodion.

Highlight of the visit was the signing of the condolence register by the ACNPN chairman on behalf of the members of the association.
