The recent political realignment with the coalition party -African Democratic Congress, ADC, by two time House of Representatives member and Senatorial candidate of the ADC, in the just concluded Edo Central Senatorial bye-election, Hon. Sergius Ogun will no doubt boost the party chances in the coming 2027 general elections in the zone.
Ogun, an astute politician with grassroots support has been adjudge by the majority of the people of Edo Central as one of the best performing politicians when he held sway as member of the House of Representatives.
Therefore, Sergius Ogun does not need introduction in that part of the state as his unblemished performance while he served at the National Assembly has endeared him to the heart of his kinsmen.
It will be out of place to compare the last Senatorial election to what the Edo people will do in the 2027 general elections, particularly in Edo Central that will only feature competent persons for elective offices for accountability, trust and accessibility which are synonymous with Sergius Ogun.
Therefore, Edo Central will not be deceived by the conduct of that election as the man of the people as he is fondly called, is ready to spread his political tentacles to garner all votes in the zone for himself if he chooses to contest the Senatorial election again in 2027.
Ogun, who was equally present at the last Edo Central ADC stakeholders meeting held at the residence of the Legal adviser to the party and former governor of Edo, Prof. Osareimhen Osunbor agreed that members must come out to build the party with commitment. He added that on his own he has since furnished a Secretariat and that he is strongly coming with his ward and local government executive to work for the party.
Continuing, "Politics is a game of numbers. As we go back to our various units let us continue to organize our people at the grassroots. As a politician you can start with your immediate family and every other person around you. Tell them ADC is the party that is now being projected to rescue Nigerians from the misrule of APC. Unless you are not convinced, that is the only party in Nigeria today as APC has lost the trust of Nigerians".
Ogun assured the people that the coalition party -ADC will be victorious come the 2027 general elections.
He said the president can nominate whoever he wants to nominate as INEC chairman, but he said it will not end without pressure from the people and the international community who will then remind him of failing to harcken to the voices of credible Nigerians who desired transparency and integrity in the choice of the electoral chief who they believe can deliver a transparent electoral processes.
One of the leaders of the party in Edo Central who was also part of the meeting, Raphael Unabor described Sergius Ogun's magnanimity as second to none, adding that the man has already written his name in gold looking at his political antecedent in Edo Central .
He promised to work with him to build the party to an enviable position that will make it become attractive and gain more members to the party. He also described him as someone one who can be trusted and reliable.
