A chieftain of the opposition Coalition party, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and former Governorship aspirant of the Labour Party, LP, Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon has become an asset to the coalition party judging by his preparedness for the speedy growth of the party in the state.
In a recent Edo Central stakeholders meeting held at the residence of the legal adviser to the party and former Governor of Edo State, Prof. Osareimhen Osunbor, Imabsuangbon was emphatic in his charge to ADC members in Edo State to be proactive and be ready to overcome the challenges ahead.
According to him, "if we truly need a change, we must make sacrifices. Whatever you have, donate it to the party so that it can grow. If it is idea, present it. I learnt we are yet to secure secretariats in some of the local government areas. Today i will kick start my support for the party. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you". He said.
Imansuangbon, popularly called the 'Rice Man' is a household name in Edo State due to his political activities in the state since 1999.
The rice man, a crowd puller has always been a key financier of all the political platforms he belonged. The man who doesn't like to associate with failure has taken the ADC in Edo State as a party worthy of his support in their bid to strengthen the party to completely eliminate the All Progressives Congress, APC whose political dominance in the state has been a source of pain and misery to the citizens.
With the caliber of Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon and other political heavy weight in the Edo Central ADC, there is no doubt that their presence has started to create tension amongst APC leaders and other members in the zone having begun to receive signal of the growing popularity of the new coalition in the state.
Therefore, having Imansuangbon in ADC in Edo State has become a boost for the party to situate itself in the state's political map ahead of the 2027 general elections. The grassroots appeal the presence of Imabsuangbon and other notable politicians brought to the ADC has boosted confidence with hope of victories for the party in all elective positions in the state.
It's trife stating that the ruling party in the state were able to achieve victory in the gubernatorial elections because Imansuangbon's name wasn't on the ballot as candidate of opposing party in the state. But this time they may not be that lucky as he may likely get the nod of the party leaders to secure the party ticket in the next Edo Governorship election, which means there will be a fierce political battle for the governorship seat come 2028.
Imansuangbon usual support for political parties is unquantifiable. The only thing here is for the party to genuinely encourage him to do more for his party to grow quickly as his passion for politics has helped many politicians to grow in their careers.
One of the leaders of the party who was present at the stakeholders meeting, Unabor Raphael, described Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon as a political giant that has been gifted to the ADC by God Almighty. He said his membership of the coalition party has since unsettled the ruling party in the state, adding that ADC winning all the elections in the Edo Central is already a done deal.
He further said that leaders of the party have agreed to work in unity for the upliftment of the party in Edo Central and Edo State in general in order to give the people good governance.
