Child Protection Network Seeks Collaboration with Edo NUJ on Child Abuse

 Child Protection Network, a creation of UNICEF has disclosed that their duty as an NGO is to work against all manner of child abuses.

This disclosure was made today by the state coordinator, Stella Ojemen when she led the executive members of the organization to pay a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council.

She said children are born vulnerable, especially those who are not in school, those neglected and those who are sexually abused.

"Presently, we have over 200 cases in the court. We want to collaborate with your council, in order to take the advantage of getting all the necessary support in the area of publicity. The problem is that victims hardly come out to talk".

She advised parents to be careful and know whom they are giving their children to stay with, adding that it is also good that parents knows about the law that protect children.

She congratulated the chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe on his victory at the NUJ election.

On his part, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, commended the organization in their effort to stop child abuse. He assured them of the council's willingness to collaborate with the organization to enable them succeed.

"You need to organize a seminar for journalists to educate them very well, so that they will be well informed. This will enable them give you all the necessary support to succeed".
