Court Adjoins Alleged Murder Case of Okhuoimose Omorodion and Genesis Orji to May 16, 2022

Hearing  in the case of the State vs Austin Olokor , 2 others ,Oluwa Esimije and Sunday Amamapoki  in the alleged  brutal murder of Okhuoimose Omorodion and Genesis Orji who were killed in ologbo dukedom, in Ikpoba okha Local government Area,Edo State has been adjourned to 16th of  May 2022 for continuous hearing.

The case which came up today in Benin Criminal Court, High Court  3 ,was the presentation of the medical records of Pw3 Philip Izekor to the Court.

At today's sitting , Pw3 presented the medical records,  the  X Ray and the medical receipt  as requested by the Court in the last sitting of the Court.

 But Counsel to the 2nd defendant, O. T. Okeke objected to the presentation of the medical records by the State Counsel as requested.
He argued that, the prosecution failed to add the documents to the evidence given to them, as the documents in question would have required scientific analysis.

 The Presiding Judge, Justice Ifijie over ruled the defendant Counsel.According to her, " it was the defendant's counsel that requested for the documents and not the intention of the Prosecution to present the documents in evidence."

Continuing, the examination , Counsel to the 2nd defendant, O T.Okeke, asked  Pw3 about the crisis between the Benins and the Itsekiris.

Pw3: told the court that, "there was never a dispute between the Benins and the Itsekiris.  Both tribes co- habit in the Community."

  " I am a Benin by tribe while the 2nd defendant,( Oluwa Esimijie),  is an Itsekiri by tribe, I did not describe the 2nd defendant to the Police in Zone 5, but I told them his name in my statement."

His Lordship, Honourable Justice Ifijie adjourned the case  to the 16th   of May , 2022 for continuation of hearing.

The 3 accused persons, Austin Olokor,Oluwa Esimije and Sunday Amamapoki  were all present in  court.

The 3  accused persons were charged with  5 count charge of alleged conspiracy, kidnapping and murder of  Okuomose Omorodion and Genesis Orji in Ologbo dukedom, Ikpoba Okha Local government Area of Edo state 

The Defendants' offence contravened Sections 516, 327 and 316 (1) punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Act , Cap C38, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and Section 2 (2) punishable under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Prohibition (Amendment) Law, 2013 of Edo State.
