The Ogbe Ezoti Community has cried out over alleged plans by the Edo State Government to take over their land for government use.

The community members who were at the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to express their displeasure over the issue said they are not interested in selling their ancestral land to the government for any use.

They further said that the community has existed for over 600 years and described the land as a monumental ground. They also said that they were not ready to relocate from their community to any other areas as been planned by the state government.

They disclosed that Ogbe Ezoti Community has a traditional link with the Palace which should be taken into consideration and respected, adding that they were not ready to collect any compensation from the land.

An 87 years old man in the community who also spoke, said his father's house was built in 1938 and that they have lived  there till date without having this kind of problem. He begged Governor Godwin Obaseki to leave the community alone and look somewhere else.
