Retired Lawyers in Oredo Local Government Council has been advised to participate in active politics while in their retirement life. This admonition was given yesterday by the Edo State Chairman, National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Lazarus Adorolo, during the sent-forth party organised for them by the Legal Department of the council.
He said joining politics will enable them to extend their services beyond the council to the general public. He also called on those in service to be diligent in their work in order to improve on the work left behind by those leaving the service.
"We must work with the Union leaders to ensure what is due to us are given to us. Local Government is a better institution. Let us do everything to make it better".
On his part, the Head of Local Government Administration, Kenssington Osifo praised the organizers of the event, adding that for the past 20 years lawyers in the local government council have not had this kind of sent-forth party.
"They are jolly good fellows. They performed excellently well while they were in service. They worked menrtoriously for 35 years. They deserved this kind of honour".
He praised Governor Godwin Obaseki for making it possible for lawyers in the council to now rise up to level 17.
Highlight of the event was the cutting of the cake and giving of gifts to the retirees.
