Edo NBA Chairman hails organizers of law week



The Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Benin branch, Barr. Pius Oiwoh has expressed the association 's gratitude to all the guests and participants who came from far are near to participate in all the activity in the just concluded 2021 Annual Law Week.

This appreciation was made during the Gala Night organised by the association to climax the event. He specifically thanked the lectures and the resource persons.

He also commended his executive for their cooperation, especially the organising committee led by Mrs. Barr. Benedicta Okoduwa for a work well done. He further said that it was good to round up the event with Gala Night so that members can relax and wine together.
On her part, the chairperson, organizing committee, Barr. Mrs. Benedicta Okoduwa also thanked the guests for coming and God Almighty for making the event a successful one.

She disclosed that from the beginning they thought it was impossible, until help started coming from kind hearted persons. She added that this year's programme was first of its kind in the history of NBA, Benin branch.

She said the theme of the event was specially choosen because of the insecurity the country was presently witnessing. She said there was need to brain storm as that was the reason they invited professionals to educate people on the way forward.
 A participant and Vice Chairman NBA, Abuja branch, Barr. Iyamah Desmond said what he witness in the law week has broaden his perception on how law week are organised.

He described  NBA Benin branch as a Bar that respond to activity of the branch. "Practically every member of the Bar attended all the sections of the programme, including the Gala Night. All that has taken place is attributed to the commitment of Bar and determination to succeed".

He described some of the topics discussed as innovating and motivating. He added that anyone that participated in the law week had a good time and congratulated the organizers.
On his part, young and dynamic lawyer, Barr. Osaretin Ogbogu, said the law week was wonderful. He said he was particularly interested in the keynote address that centered on Insecurity.

He further said that insecurity is a trending issue in Nigeria that required a solution, in order to curb the menace. He said the keynote speaker talked about the neighbourhood  watch and vigilante as a means for the state government to curb the issue.

"Personally I think the issue of insecurity should be the responsibility of the government. I do not think it should be left in the hands of civilians because it may have a negative effect".
