All is now set for the former governorship candidate of the Affican Democratic Congress (ADC), to formerly joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
This was made known to the Groovewatch Magazine in a telephone interview.
She said the party will formally received her into its fold on 22nd May, 2021, at Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State.
When asked why she want to leave her party for PDP, she said is time for her to move on to a platform where she honestly believed that the issue affecting Nigeria presently can be solved.
"I thought of it before making a decision. I know some people may be negative about my choice. But I can assure you that PDP is Keen in solving the current issues in Nigeria, and that we must all do together".
She further said that she believed that the quality of people in a political party determines the success of the party, adding that PDP is doing everything possible to weed out those working against their interest and welcomed those who are genuinely ready to work for the progress of the party and Nigeria in general.
When asked how her party (ADC) feels when they notice she was leaving the party, Mabel Oboh said it is expected that they will certainly not be happy, because they believed so much in her because her good character and her immense contributions to the party during the period she was with them.
"But the issue in Nigeria is beyond sentiment. I need to broaden myself politically if I want to be more useful to the nation. I know they will understand later, no hard feeling. There is work to be done and the time starts now".
She expressed her gratitude to her former party, her local government leaders and the Lagos State Chairman, Hon. Olayinwola Abisoye. She specifically thanked the National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu who identified with her hard work and made her what she is in politics today.
When asked why she decided to join PDP in Lagos, instead of her home place, Edo State. She said she started her politics in Lagos and that she believed she can easily conquer new grounds and broaden her horizon while there. She however said she will never forget her people in Edo State, adding that she is ready to help them when the need arises.
"One thing I loved so much about Lagos PDP politics is that they embrace other tribes with open arms without any discrimination, so long you can deliver. I want other states to equally emulate Lagos in this direction as that will bring coexistence amongst Nigerians".
On the last Edo governorship election, Mabel Oboh said it was a huge project for her, adding that the experience changed her life, not only as an Edo woman but as a Nigerian.
"I learnt that the issue of Nigeria cannot be solved with narrow mind. The fact that Nigeria election is monitised was a huge shock to me".
