Johnson Elema, Promise Keeper, A Rare Trait In Politics, Excites Oredo Electorate

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

In the present political dispensation in Nigeria where there is a trust gap between the ordinary people and the political class, due to failure on their part to deliver on electoral promises to the people, there is an evolving political phenomenon in the build up to the local government election in Oredo.

In a rare but purpose driven approach to promoting the aspiration of  political office seekers, the people of Oredo say that Hon Johnson Elema, the foremost aspirant in the forthcoming Oredo local government election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, begun to earn the support of the electorate in the locality.

The question that agitates the minds of political watchers with regard to the grands well of support and solidarity with this aspiration is what is happening at a period when the voters have become less gullible accepting whatever that is thrown at them. A period when they  thoroughly scrutinize office seekers before giving their support in order to stave off another disappointing experience occasioned by failed electoral promises.

They believe that Johnson Elema when offered the APC's ticket will take governance at the council to higher heights in competences, delivery and reach that would benefit them. They assert that his tenure as chairman will be a different ball game entirely, such that would benefit the people hence their determination to build on the established bond of friendship between the voters and Hon Elema. A relationship built on trust as his words have been known as being his bond over time.

Whatever positive things coming from him right now started from his good background where his character was  molded to love all and hate none, a trait not in short supply in his family lineage.

His noble background not withstanding, Hon Elema has built a coterie of political network resting solidly on nurtured robust friendship and patronages within the Oredo council that can boost the chances of the APC if he's given the party's chairmanship ticket.

On that note one may not be wrong to say that Johnson Elema will be very useful to the people of Oredo if considered and given the opportunity to serve. For many who are close to him have always testified to his commitment to whatever he wants to do, and pays attention to minutest details in to attain set goals, thus making him the man everyone can count on and expect the best.

It will not be out of place for the people he wants to serve to go further more to find out about him in order to know more of those things they may wish to know as he continues on his journey to the council. He believes that only people with hidden agendas fear public scrutiny. Really it is  not about clapping around politicians, it's equally important we take time to know the person we are about to give our mandate to.

Johnson Elema has always said  at
different fora that instead of promising the people what one is not capable of achieving, it is better not to continue with the ambition to lead people at any level of governance. Let me say here that the enthusiasm in which he is pursuing this cause is that of a mission he has set out to achieve with vigor.

As he has continued to build the trust in the people while he canvass for support, it will be wise for the people to follow him with sincerity as that will be a sure way to succeed in this task that would culminate in effective delivery of the dividends of democracy when elected and sworn in as chairman of the council.

When an aspirant or a candidate is on the same page with the electorate, it is always very easy to achieve success as accessing each other has earlier been achieved at the beginning of the journey. So, Johnson Elema being an accessible person will be an advantage to  him in this project.

Since Johnson Elema is very much at home with the people of Oredo, it has therefore become a family affair that has a ready made solution which will bring victory to him during the election come next year.
