EDO 2024: No Meaningful Development Can Be Achieved Without Security, says Osagie

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

Frontline Governorship aspirant  for the Edo 2024 Governorship election and security expert, Mr. Bassey Ogbemudia Osagie has stated that no meaningful development can take place in a country where  proper security is not put in place.

He made this known to the Groove Watch News crew in an exclusive interview in Benin City.

He further said that unless the issue of insecurity is dealt with in Edo State there will not be progress and one will not also be able to attract investors to the state.

"We cannot do any tangible thing in the area of agriculture unless we solve the issue of security. These days it is difficult to bring crops from the rural areas to the urban centers because of the issue of insecurity. For us to survive we have to form security drag net around Edo State. We should be able to know what is going on in the state".

On roads, Osagie said unless there is a proper control of  erosion in such sites,  it will not be easy to engage in the construction of  roads in such areas. He said he will make sure water flow and flood are properly channelled to give way for construction of good and durable roads.

He however said that he noticed that some of the trucks plying state roads are responsible in destroying roads constructed by State Governments. He added that as a government, there will be regulation for such trucks passing through Edo State roads. He further said that except there is such a regulation,  trucks will keep destroying the roads.

On infrastructure, the Governorship aspirant, Bassey Ogbemudia said, his government will emulate the  beautiful performances of  Brigadier General Samuel Ogbemudia and Prof. Ambrose Alli of blessed memories who served as Governors in Bendel state, where good infrastructure were on ground for the people to enjoy. He regretted  that those numerous infrastructure put on ground by those heroes were not mantained by successive governments and therefore, were abandoned.

On education, he said with his findings in the educational sector in the state he discovered that many schools in the state lack so many things, like table, chairs and other learning facilities  that can make the learning environment conducive for the students.

"We will introduce vocational programs. We will make sure our people are trained in vocational skills. We have to give them the right education for us to move forward. Let them know what is wrong and right because most people have lost ethical values. I will certainly make a change if elected as governor".
