Ibore Community in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, recently witnessed a devastating rainstorm which rendered many landlords and other residents completely homeless.
Over 150 houses were grossly affected with other valuable properties wiorth millions of naira destroyed.
The swiftness with which the storm undermined the frantic efforts of individuals at protecting some of the valuables, proved abortive, as it was like a volcanic eruption. Besides the affected buildings, economic crops were not left out in the destruction, as men, women and children were seen running to different directions for safety and as if the world was coming to an end.
The frozen atmospheric vapour (snow) was another devastating effect that dropped on the affected victims apart from being drenched by the heavy down pour. So excruciating it is being rendered homeless in such a bizarre and inexplicable circumstance.
Due to the situation, wailing, anguish and tears of sorrow enveloped the entire Ibore Community to the extent some unaffected empathizers in a show of solidarity were seen sharing tears profusely.
Members of Ibore Community are through this medium calling on both State, Federal and relevant government agencies to please come to their aid as it is already rainy season in addition to averting further, the loss of lives and properties.
The buildings belonging to Mr. Iyile Nigeria were equally affected and have been pulled down completely and this has rendered him (Mr. Iyile Nigeria) completely homeless.
Being rainy season, those affected are appealing to the government, individuals and organizations to please expedite action either in financial or material effort, and to enable them re-roof their collapsed buildings considering the escalating prices of building materials, now that the Nigerian economy is biting harder.
They also thanked the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for taking a proactive step upon getting the report even lately. He deployed a team of the Edo State Emergency Management Agency to Ibore Community to inspect all the affected houses.
This to them is the hallmark of a responsible government sensitive enough to the plight of the people.
