As all the aspirants are moving across the three Senatorial Districts meeting with the leadership and other members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to canvass for nomination votes, result of approval rating of the individual contestants have started trickling in from all the local governments in the state.
Engr. Gideon Ikhine has already taken the lead and he is been rated the most valuable aspirant who has been able to marshall out his programs for quick economic recovering in Edo State.
It is no longer a secret as we will highlight the remarks of all the party chairmen in the local government areas visited so far.
There's no gainsaying that in the politics of Edo State Engr. Ikhine has been able to display his political prowess in all the major previous elections in the state. He has the magic wand to turn things around when the political terrain is becoming difficult during election periods, and history is about to repeat itself in this coming election as all his arsenals has been deployed to secure victory for his party, the APC in this Governorship election.
In his vision to transform Edo State into a destination choice through a revolution in industry, agriculture, tourism and trust, it is already clear that it will be in the world record as one of the economically rich states in the world if Engr. Gideon Ikhine is elected as governor.
Other areas he promised to focus on are Education, Sports and health care. These are some of the areas he wants to leave his legacy behind as governor.
In terms of educational qualification, competency, credibility and trust, Ikhine has been given a number up by political stakeholders across the state. He has been rated having 90% chance of clinching the ticket of APC by all the local government chairmen of APC in the state having spoken on behalf of their members in the respective local government areas.
Let us pay attention to some of the remarks made by the chairmen in the local governments visited so far by Engr. Ikhine. In Edo South.
The APC chairmen in Ovia North East and South West LGAs, described ikhine as a well known person in Edo politics. They said they believe in his capability to solve the problems of the state if elected, considering his background as a very successful businessman.
They assured him of their support during the Party's primary to enable him secure the ticket and wished him well.
Also, the visits to Egor and Oredo, both chairmen, Chief Emma Imayase and Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe who spoke in the same vein described Engr. Ikhine as a well known political guru in the state who has the capability of giving APC victory in the Edo Governorship election.
They added that his brilliant presentation at the occasion was enough to earn him the party's ticket, having spoken on salient issues that are presently confronting the state.
They said his desterious approach in discussing the Edo project was a pointer to his depth of his knowledge and understanding of the problems of Edo State.
"You have won the hearts of our members today with your wonderful presentation. It also means that you have been preparing for the governorship project. Today your coming has changed the narrative about you having spoken well.
In Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwode, the chairmen, Hon. Sunny Ogbewe and Rt. Hon. Osawe Osajemwenre respectively said with the programmes presented by Engr. Ikhine, it means that the party has gotten a candidate that will win election for it.
They appealed to the leadership of the party to consider attributes of competency and capability in the choice of the party's candidate to win election for the party and not to compromise by presenting a weak candidate that will fail the party.
On his part, the chairman of APC in Orhionmwon local government area Julius Agbonze promised Engr. Ikhine that Orhionmwon people will speak with one voice and support him without any division.
"We are satisfied with the programmes you presented to us and we will report back to our leaders to join us to support you because we believe you can lead the party to victory during the Governorship election. Therefore, let all Esan aspirants in the race do well to collapse their structures and stand strongly behind Engr. Ikhine. If they do that, others will follow suit.
