The Governorship aspirant in the Edo 2024 Governorship election on the platform of the Labour party, LP, Mr., Martins Azekhumen Okoukoni has promised to put on ground a good system that will change the people's mind set in governance if elected the next governor of Edo state.
The Governorship hopeful made this disclosure yesterday while briefing journalists at the Labour party Secretariat, shortly after meeting with the party Exco members to formally inform them of his intention to contest the Edo 2024 Governorship election.
According to him, "I'm here today at the Labour party Secretariat in Benin City to formally inform the chairman and other members of the exco that I want to run for the office of the governor of Edo State come next year.
Okoukoni thanked the chairman, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi for the warm reception given to him during the visit. He also thank him for his concern on the growth of the nation and that of the young people.
"Upon my return from abroad I discovered that the system we are running here is not enough to impact positively in the lives of the people, compare to what is obtainable in the outside world. I'm here to introduce a system that can take care of human in our society". We do have good roads, education system is shaking, people are hungry and infrastructure is at the lowest level. People cannot move freely from one place to the other due to bad roads. There are frustration among the people".
Okoukoni said he was running for the Governorship position in the state to establish an institutional reform in order to put things in place and a good system for human benefits.
He described the Labour party as one of the biggest party in Edo State, adding that the youths has since embrace the party. He said that is the reason he is contesting on the platform of the party.
In his remarks, the state chairman of Labour party, LP, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi said Mr. Martins Okoukoni was at the Secretariat to inform the state council of his aspiration to aspire for the office of the governor of Edo State.
"With his presence today at the party Secretariat he has joined the league of those who want to use the platform of the Labour party to contest for the Governorship election. The council members interacted with him on various issues and he competently answered most of the questions. His name is now in our record as one of those who have come to us to show indication that he is going to aspire for the Gubernatorial election in Edo State come 2024".
