EDO 2024: I'm More Prepared Than Others To Govern Edo

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

A Governorship hopeful in the coming 2024 Edo Governorship election, on the platform of the Labour Party, LP,  Mr. Ogbemudia Bassey Osagie has stated that he has no godfather, but only want the sponsorship of the people of Edo State.

Ogbemudia disclosed this recently in an interview with The Groove News crew in Benin City.

He further said that he has been going round consulting with people, including the Edo people in the United States for support and volunteers on his Governorship project. "I'm not sponsored by anybody. I want to be sponsored by the people. I want the children to have good opportunity obtainable in Canada so that they will not be worried about their future. I'm capable of running my campaign because I don't believe in money politics".

"I'm very  confident in the sense that when you look at the aspirants in totality so far irrespective of political divide, their background and past history, if the Edo people really want good leadership, right now I am more prepared than the rest because of my character, competency and the way I have lived my life in terms of empathy for the people of Edo State. From an objective point of my view, they will pick me. Although I'm not desperate to be to be next governor of Edo State,  I'm desperate for a better Edo that will always come first. I'm desperate for a leader that will stand for the people, especially when things are going wrong, a leader that will come up and speak the truth. It is then people can look at that leadership and say I believe in him. That will be based on the trust people have in you. But one who is living a dubious life can never change because he or she will always display it at all times".

Ogbemudia added that what separated him from others is that he knows how to serve the people and how to listen. He said his coming into the race is also based on his security experience that will  ensure that the people in Edo State are properly secured.

He said that he is worried about the insecurity in our communities in Edo State which is being perpetuated by herdsmen and as a result the farmers can no longer have access  to their farm lands due to fear of being killed. He promised to form a security drag net around the farm lands so that the farmers can go back to their farms without fear. He also promised  road connectivity to enable the farmers transport their produce from the villages to towns for sales. He said he will make sure farmers are supported with fertilizers and loans to enhance their farming.

On the crisis in the Labour party, he said he believed in the rule of law, adding that which ever group or faction that has the legal right in the party is the group he will follow and work with.

Ogbemudia said his interest in the governorship race is for the interest of the generality of the people. He said the people need to be sensitised because the leaders have imporverised them to the extent that some of them no longer think right any more.

"I know the challenges are huge, but we have to start from somewhere and I believe it will start with me because I know the problems and how to solve them".

On his message to the people, he said, "If the people of Toronto as an advanced country and as developed as they are, if the Toronto police serves as the largest municipal police in Canada, the fourth largest municipal police in North America, and If they can trust me through the rank until I became a  Sergeant  detective with them in a management position,  the people of Edo State should feel free by giving me similar opportunity to serve and protect them and bring prosperity to Edo State. My records are there in the public domain for the people to see and I encourage them to go further to know who I am. I believe strongly I will be a destiny helper to all of us".
