Frontline politician and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has congratulated Muslims in the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
In a message personally signed on Thursday, June 5, in Benin City, Ighodalo stressed the need to reflect on the invaluable lesson inherent in the celebration, the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in complete obedience to God’s command.
He emphasized the continued need for devotion to Almighty Allah, obedience to His charges, and a readiness to share with others in the spirit of love and selflessness.
Ighodalo wrote:
“I rejoice with you and congratulate all my Edo State Muslim brothers and sisters on this auspicious occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
As you celebrate this important moment, I urge you to fully embrace the true essence of the celebration, which is obedience to Almighty Allah. This includes an understanding of the values of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness.
My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate, let us remember the poor and the needy among us. Let us show them love and bring joy to their hearts. I urge everyone to promote peace and unity. Let this sacred occasion renew our commitment to these ideals.
Always remember to put our dear Edo State first. We may not yet be where we desire, but together, keeping our heads high and our eyes on the bigger picture, we will build the Edo State of our dreams, where poverty, insecurity, and backwardness are things of the past.
As you celebrate, please do so responsibly, bearing in mind that moderation in all things is key to true happiness.
I pray that the joy and blessings of this occasion multiply in your lives. May Almighty Allah accept your worship and devotion as acts of Ibadah, and may His blessings be with you always.
Once more, congratulations and happy celebration.”
