JCI Nigeria University of Benin Preaches Innovation

The Junior Chamber International, University of Benin chapter over the last weekend held their 5th edition of the Employability, Business and Leadership Master class, with the theme: "Innovation: The Tool For An Evolving Undergraduate In A Changing World"

The event was graced by personalities across the country and many speakers with interesting topics spanning from talk on Employability, Leadership, Business and many more. Over 700 participants were in attendance.

In his remark, the President of Junior Chamber International Nigeria  UNIBEN, Odebode Oluwaseyi Lucky said this year's theme was choosen due to the current reality which is presently fraught with challenges, even though many opportunities  abound  around the corner.

"These challenges ranged from the age of those admitted to the University to the various courses offered, the diverse pool of job opportunities, the perceived unrealistic demands from employers of labour from new batches of graduates and poor employability level of fresh graduates".

"Feel free to learn as much as you can, and most importantly put to good use (capital) what you learn. This way you become part of those who are ready to evolve with the changing times", the President UNIBEN Junior Chamber said 

He appreciated the efforts of the Vice President Projects, Destiny Pascal Iweluegim and the Deputy Director Projects Mercy Williams for the success of the event.

On his part, the National President, JCIN Amb. Attahiru Bala Abdullahi, said the theme of the Master class, which holds immense significance in shapping our future "Innovation, The Tool For An Evolving Undergraduate in a changing World" couldn't be more fitting for the current times we find ourselves in.

"Its not just about being tech-savvy or coming up with ground breaking ideas, its about cultivating an innovative mindset that permeates every aspect of your life with sustainability as a hallmark. Embracing Innovation means being open to changes, embracing new technologies and continuously seeking improvement and adaptation".

"I want to appreciate the efforts of the Vice President Projects, Destiny Pascal Iweluegim and the Deputy Director of EBL for putting the event in the best light".

One of the speakers who talked about Employability, Mrs Precious Ajoonu  said, in networking, you must have a target, look at your plans and the best way to carry it out to achieve result.

She also encouraged the participants to always talk about their skills in the social media and while they are with people at different fora.

"Write your values because it will help you to drive what  you believe in".

On Leadership, Wale Bakare said leadership influences characters to function very well,  adding that there are leaders who are adamant and those who are, provided service to the country and its people.

He said leaders create where people can strive and think of human materials and needs. "As a leader you should show love and ensure that the people are not suffering. He added that you must have a culture of living by example.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of N150,000 cheque to the winner of the Business Grant Pitch.
