The National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP, Barr. Julius Abure has stated that the leadership of the party will not endorse any Governorship aspirant in the forthcoming Edo Governoship election slated for next year.
He made this disclosure today during a stakeholders meeting of the party in Benin City.
Abure said he decided to embark on a week-long sensitization tour of the state with a view to ensure that the party triumphs in the election.
He further said that he has set up several committees to reconcile the aggrieved members and also charged the state leadership of the party to open Its doors to accommodate new members and cooperate with other leaders and stakeholders to ensure a strong united and formidable party that will be able to win the governorship election come next year.
Abure said his visit and discussion with party members in his political unit, ward and local government in Esan North East of Edo Central was very fruitful.
He recalled how labour party got 75 percent of the total votes cast in the presidential election in Edo state which he said deprived other political parties from securing 25 percent in the state.
He asked the state executive to work hard and build on the foundation and maintain the temple in order to be able to participate effectively with a view to winning the governorship election, adding that the party need aggressive membership drive this time around.
