The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Col. David Imuse has disclosed his readiness to contest the 2024 Edo governorship election based on Competency and not as an act of desperation.
He disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Groove Watch News in Benin City.
Imuse said he did not join politics by accident, adding that he is not a professional politicians, but a professional in politics who is grounded in administration.
According to him, "I have been a ward leader, Local government leader, and Senatorial leader. Also I have been an Acting Chairman of a party, and I'm now a State Chairman of a political party. For you to be a successful governor you must have been grounded in administration and politics. You must also deliberately show your commitment to improve the lives of your people".
The chairman said he will not write a manifesto, simply because he is a man who is focused, intelligent and has the capacity to govern Edo State.
"As a son of a poor man i have seen poverty, and have thereafter seen wealth as well. I want to be remembered for the good things I have done. I have the vision and knowledge to deliver. I will govern the state as it has never been done before".
On the recent decamping of one of the former bigwigs in PDP to APC, like Engr. Gideon Ikhine, Imuse said he welcomed him warmly to his party, adding that he has done enough to stabilize the APC in the state, therefore, he is ready to welcome more people to the party and work with them. Engr Ikine, he said, would stand on line like others and be given an equal opportunity like others now coming into the APC.
On the Edo State coming local election, the chairman said his party already have their candidates lined up for the election, adding that he wishes Gov. Godwin Obaseki will allow EDSIEC to conduct a free and fair election which is slated for September 2, 2023.
