A governorship aspirant for the 2024 Edo governorship election, on the platform of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Stephen Ogbemudia Osemwengie has promised to break the jinx of low performances by previous administrations in Edo State.

He made this disclosure recently when he visited the Edo State Labour party Secretariat to formally made his intention known to the leadership of the party in the state. 

"It is time for a new direction for our state. Our state have had several promises by several leaders which has not yielded  results. It is time to change the narrative. Because you cannot continue to do the same thing and expect different result".

Osemwengie said Edo State is not in isolation of the world, adding that whatever that works in other parts of the world can equally be done and achieve in the state. 

"We have the human capital, human resources. Therefore, we have no reason for our people to be poor and hungry. My goal is simple. To secure, unite and make Edo State a prosperous one".

He also promised to ensure that the residents of Edo State is made to see a hope of future that is bright and promising.

The young and dynamic politician however, said that he cannot achieve all these mentioned above without security. He therefore vowed to get all the necessary apparatus needed to secure the state, adding that it is only a secured environment the investors would  like to come in and invest.

Osemwengie Know full well that education is the bed rock of the society, he said to be able to industrialize and expand the state that the people must be given the tools and sound education to prepare them for the 21st century.

He further emphasised the need to have courses in the secondary school curriculum that will take care of skill acquisitions program to accommodate learning of trades for those who could not proceed to other higher institutions thereafter.

On agriculture, he promised to genuinely expand the agricultural program by making loan available to the farmers to enhance food availability.

Above all, he said he will make sure that everyone have access to good health care, as healthy population will translate to healthy productive population.

In his remark, the chairman of Labour Party, LP, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi said Mr. Stephen Osemwengie came to the Secretariat to be enlisted among the aspirants that want to contest the governorshp election on the platform of the Labour Party come next year.

He disclosed that his party has not annoited any aspirant as at today. He also promised that the party will only do what is right by providing a level playing ground for all the aspirants during the primary and advised him to work very hard to enable him succeed in his governorshp project.
