By Ehichioya Steve Odion

A former Chairman of Esan North East Local Government and a 2024 Edo State Gubernatorial hopeful, Hon. John Yakubu has expressed shock and sadness over the death of Africa's most foremost and iconic Journalist, Mr Peter Enshoro who died recently in London at the age of 88

In a statement issued in Benin City, and made available to the Groove Watch News, Hon Yakubu recalled the contributions of Pa Enahoro to national development by the instrumentality of the media through his fearless and incisive views canvassed in his Peter Pan Collumn in the then  Daily Times.

Hon Yakubu described the late Peter Enahoro as a trail blazer  who became the Editor of The Sunday Times at a young age of 23 in 1958, Editor of The Daily Times in 1962 and Editor in Chief in 1966.

Hon.Yakubu said he was proud that Pa Enahoro was not only an Edo man but also hailed from Uromi, describing him and other members of the famous Enahoro clan as Uromi's gift to Nigeria and indeed the world.

He urged the Federal and State Governments to  immortalize his name as  a fitting tribute to his immense contributions to national development and to demonstrate to the young ones that there is reward in being patriotic.

He prayed to God to grant his great soul peaceful rest in His bossom
