The Director of Fredomilt Furniture Company, Friday Edole Milton declared that his master doubted his ability to successfully undergo a training in furniture making when he indicated his interest for the job. He however said that all has now turned to a success story as he earlier promised himself that he would prosper with the trade.
Milton whose company is located at no 33 Apostolic Street, off Igbesamwan Road, Benin City, disclosed this in an interview with Groove Watch Magazine in Benin City.
He said he started his training in 1995 when it was cleared to him that he could not continue with his education due to poor performance in school and the financial problem his father was facing at that particular period.
He said he completed his training in 2000 and performed his freedom with all the requirements from his master. He also said he was later assigned to work with his master's senior apprentice who was now on his own with a monthly salary of N4,000. He further said that he finally established his own when the man left for overseas in 2005.
Milton said although the business is very lucrative, but that, it requires connection to get good profitable contracts that can help to grow the business, adding that lack of capital can equally hinder the growth of the business.
He said he specialises in making of executive chairs, tables, beds, kitchen cabinets, house furnishing, including hotels, corporate organizations and other wood works.He advice his counterparts in the business to ensure they do quality jobs for their clients and be very sincere while dealing with them in order to have trust in them.
