Aquaculture Profession is Lucrative, says Uniben VC

Aquaculture Profession has been described as lucrative and advantageous. This assertion was made yesterday by the Deputy Vice  Chancellor, Administration, University of Benin, Professor (Mrs) Adesuwa Osahon who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami during the 259 Inaugural Lecture series of the University with the theme: " In Search of Sustainable Fish Supply Through Aquaculture" delivered by Prof. Victor Azubuike Okonji.

Prof. Lilian Salami said the lecture was about how to grow your own fish to feed yourself and your immediate family.

"It is not enough to give fish to people, but to teach them how to produce fish in order to feed themselves for Life Time"

She said in the lecture she also learnt that there are heavy chemical in the fish from the natural water, adding that the ones that is grow in the compound are healthier  because those heavy mental are not there. "Those heavy mental could cause all sort of health harzard when you consume them"

She further said that there is a lot of advantages in growing our own fish as that will enable one to make money and conquer poverty.

In an interview with the inaugural lecturer, Prof. Victor Azubuike Okonji described his lecture as very successful and gives God the glory.
He said with hard work and determination one can get a good research that can be acceptable, adding that the essence of research is to solve problems.

On her part, the wife of the lecture, Dr. (Mrs.) Okonji said she was on top of the world.

"I'm so proud of my husband. I knew he is an erudite Professor. He is endowed and he knows what is doing. Any time he come out to talk he goes straight  to the point.

She said she have never doubted his husband's ability as he is a scholar they are proud of.
