The League of Women Voters of Nigeria, (NILOWV), Non Governmental Organization, attracts girls and women above 18 years for mentoring, sensitization and education on their Civic rights and responsibilities.

This was made known to Groove Watch Magazine by the 1st Vice President  and Chairperson, Josephine Anenih, Esq. , in a press briefing to mark the organization's 25th anniversary celebration at their National Secretariat in Benin City.

She disclosed that this year's anniversary started with activities in all their local chapters which is now culminating into a National Conference on "Full and Equal Participation of Women in Public Life and Leadership"

She said the organization has engaged all major political parties, Agencies and Institutions like the National Assembly for policy and law reforms to increase women's access and participation in public Life, adding that the activities would be rounded up in Abuja from 20th to 28th November, 2021. She further disclosed that the Keynote address will be delivered  by the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen.

"The Conference theme is to enable the League fully explore the progress that has been made by women in public Life and Leadership in these last 25 years. The challenges and what need to be done by all stakeholders in that direction as it has become an established fact that no nation can develop when half of her population is held back".

She said NILOWV like her counterparts all over the world has continue to encourage and empower women and girls to be more informed and active in politics and governance. She also said that the organization was glad that women in Nigeria have become the highest number of voters.

"We are striving to see their utilization of their votes to increase women's participation in decision making in politics and governance through voting for women to occupy such positions".
