The Peoples Democratic party, PDP has appealed to Nigerians to support it to wrestle power from President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC through the ballot in 2023.
The Publicity Secretary of PDP, Edo State Chapter, Chris Nehikhare made the appeal at a Press briefing today in Benin City, ahead of National Convention of the party scheduled for October 30th and 31st this year.
He expressed disappointment with the APC-led government of President Buhari for being unable to fulfill most of its electoral promises before 2015 General elections, especially in areas of security, affordable healthcare, Education, decay infrastructure and bad state of the economy.
Nehikhare who spoke on behalf of the leadership of the party in Edo State, predicted that with the handing over of reign of power by the president to PDP would transform Nigeria and improve the living standard of Nigerians, amidst uncertain future and pervasive economic hardship.
"The government of President Muhammadu and the All Progressives Congress, APC in the last four years, all the indices of governance have being negative. The security is worst. When they took over in 2015, there was insecurity in one or two regions of the Country, but in 2021, there is insecurity in all States and regions of the Country".
"There is no peace. The healthcare and security have collapsed, Education is collapsing and Nigerians should all come and join PDP to rescue this Country, and from the grip of President Buhari. He (Buhari) is not contesting again. For the first time since 2015, we would be having two fresh Candidates from the two major political parties in Nigeria".
"This is the first time President Buhari will not appear on the ballot of any political party. And I think Nigeria will heave a sigh of relief. Any party that he belongs to carries the same baggage that he is carrying. Nigerians have to reject that political party".
