The leader of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme and member, Special Committee, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Tonye Bobo has called for peace among the Stakeholders.
This call was made in an enlarged stakeholder's meeting held in Benin City, Edo State.
He said as a member and leader of the group, that, it is his duty to bring them together in order to know his present position in the programme, and to also let them know that he was ready to serve them and chat a new pact.
"We are already getting it right. As peace Ambassador we have to change the narrative in the Niger Delta. We want the public to know that Niger Delta is a region where people can do business without any molestation".
Tonye disclosed that all the necessary measures has been put in place to stop incessant protest and blocking of high ways to press for their demands, adding that, that was the reason they gathered in Benin City to brain storm on the way forward.
He said there is ongoing talk with the Interim Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Dikio Milland. He described him as a person with verse experience, integrity and someone who has passion for the people of Niger Delta, as he brought back the struggle to the people of the region.
He emphasized the need to support him in order to achieve the set objectives for the group, adding that, that was the reason he was engaging the group to embrace peace and sustain it.
"Today's meeting is very powerful, looking at the calibre of persons present. Some of the Stakeholders that could not make it to the meeting sent a word of support and appreciation for the effort we are putting in place for the needful to be done in the office".
He also disclosed that the Presidency of the Amnesty Programme has called for a verification, in order to know the genuine members of the third Phase of the Amnesty programme.
Tonye promised to report the out come of the deliberation in the meeting to the office for necessary action.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on security, Ezekiel Daniel who was present in the meeting said his part is to play the role of a middle man between the aggrieved members of the group and his office.
He assured them that all their issues will be taking to the appropriate quarters at Abuja for necessary action.
The spokesman of the group, Hon. Godstime Ogidigba said part of their resolution was to confirmed the Exco led by Tonye Bobo for two years, and thereafter, election will be conducted.
He also said that the position of Chairman is rotational and also resolved to give peace a chance to allowed their demands to be met.
