Fuel Hike: Protest Rocks Edo Over Subsidy Removal

Protest is presently going on in Benin City, the state capital over hike in fuel price which has resulted in the skyrocketing of foods and other commodities prices in the country.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, led by  Joe Ajaero and Trade Union Congress , TUC, Comrade Festus , Osifo not satisfied with the negotiation so far with the Federal Government decided to call for a nation wide protest which is presently going on across the country.

In Edo state the protesters led by Comrade Odion Olaye gathered at the King's square where they moved to the Edo State House of Assembly complex to present a letter from the President of  the Nigeria Labour Congress to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku who was represented by the Clerk, Audu Omogbai who promised to deliver the letter to the Speaker.

In his remark, Comrade Odion Olaye said they were at the House of Assembly complex to register their displeasure over the inability of President Bola Asiwaju Tinubu to reduce the sufferings of Nigerians who are presently going through untold hardship in the country.

Some of the placards seen with the protesters includes, Withheld salaries of  lecturers and workers,  Our Refineries are in comatose. They need government's attention. Fix them up. and NNPC is a private company and should not decide the fuel price in the country.

They later moved to the state Secretariat and Edo State Government House to equally present the  letter from the national President, Joe Ajaero.
