How Asue Ighodalo Facilitated Electricity Project In Ewohimi Community - Hon. Oseghale Ernest

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

A community leader in Ikhekhe quarters, Oghu Ewohimi, Hon. Oseghale Ernest has cleared the air on the misinformation and misrepresentation by those he described as enemy of progress to Ewohimi community whose mission is to discredit  their illustrious son Dr. Asue Ighodalo, PDP governorship candidate in the forthcoming September 21, 2024 election on the electricity project at Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

He was reacting to a video trending on social media on the Ewohimi Electricity Project . He declared that the information contained in the video is unfounded and baseless and asked the public, especially the voters to disregard it.

Hon. Oseghale recalled how the Ewohimi electrification project started in 1991 through the first chairman of Esan South East Local Government Council, Hon. Benjamin Omole.

"He supplied the wooden poles which was reigning then and were kept at the Palace before it was gutted by fire. In 2000 Barr. Asue Ighodalo went to the then Minister of Power and Steel Development Barr. Bola Ige of blessed memory who was his maternal uncle. He begged him to use his good office to provide electricity for Ewohimi (his home town). After several appeals to him he granted the request and the electrification project was contracted to CAMDAVIS  Nig  Ltd that same year".

He said thereafter, the community appointed the following persons to supervise the project on behalf of the community, which includes, former chairman of PDP, Prince Solomon Aguele, Late Hon.  D. E. Amiebenomon, Dr. Israel Aguele, Hon. Brins Egbedi, Hon. Julius Safali and himelf Hon. Oseghale Ernest, adding that the light eventually came up in 2002.

Hon. Oseghale revealed how the community bought bulk meters and managed the light until the community ran into a huge debt of about One hundred and Forty Million naira only (N140,000,000) which made BEDC to disconnect the electricity supply to Ewohimi.

According to him, "Asue Ighodalo and other prominent sons and daughters in their usual magnanimity helped the community to offset part of the huge debt and the light was restored in 2018".

He further said that they continue in their usual ways by recharging their bulk meters in order to sustain the constant light they were enjoying. He said again the community  could not continue to sustain the availability of light because they could not pay their bills and as a result they were plugged into another darkness.

Continuing, Hon. Oseghale said it was only Eguare quarter that have not enjoyed electricity for years due to vandalization of their transformer.

"Again our sons and daughters both home and abroad led by Barr. Asue Ighodalo came to our rescue by replacing the damaged poles and recharged for all the transformers with huge amount of money including Eguare transformer and the supply of electricity came back to Ewohimi last year (2023). But our joy was again shortlived in January, 2024 when some cross bars in the electricity poles was burnt by fire".

He concluded by praising the man of the moment, Barr. Asue Ighodalo whom  according to him Ewohimi community describe as a Godsent political Messiah who has just begun the process of replacing the burnt cross bars and other repairs to facilitate the restoration of the electricity.

"Kudos to the man Wey Sabi. From my analysis you can see why there is no electricity supply in Ewohimi. As for the old woman and the children in the video to say that they have not gotten light for the past sixteen years is a fabricated falsehood from the pit of hell. I refer you to the Palace of Ewohimi to authenticate my claims and also from the following first class chiefs in Ewohimi Kingdom for more verifications, Chief Oliha, Chief Iyasele, Chief Edohe, Chief Ezomon, Chief Idogho, Chief Esongban and Prince Solomon Aguele, to mention but a few".
