Why I Established Thought Pyramid Art Centre In Benin -- Founder, Olorogun

The Founder/ Lead Curator of Thought Pyramid Art Centre, Olorogun Jeff Ajueshi has stated that the centre is not merely an expansion but a homage to the rich heritage of Edo State.

Olorogun disclosed this to The Groove Watch News yesterday during the official opening of the centre in Benin City.

He further said that the RED BOOK exhibition was not only to mark the opening of the Thought Pyramid Art Centre, but also to celebrate the state's cultural, artistic vibrancy and showcasing its inherent creative excellence.

"Aligned with the vision set forth by Governor Godwin Obaseki, we aim to be a catalyst for fostering collaborative innovation, driving creative problem-solving, especially within the realm of art. Our goal is to support creative leadership among the people of Edo  and ignite private sector engagement within the artistic community".

Continuing, he said the Thought Pyramid Art Centre is celebrated for its visionary approach in  identifying talents that transcend borders, nurturing their development not just locally but also globally. "Through our unique flagship initiatives such as Mentoring Moments, Catch Them Young, Next of Kin, Undiscovered, Artists/Writers Residency, Upcycling and Recycling and more".

Olorogun said the centre are committed to uncovering visual artists and creatives in Edo State, adding that their objective is to leverage their presence in Edo State to cultivate individuals who can emerge as pioneering figures in the forefront of the Nigerian art and creative industry. He also said that these are already incorporated into their timetable for Edo State in the first quarter of 2024.

"The RED BOOK exhibition testifies to our commitment, resonating with our mission to celebrate artistic endeavors and contribute to our society's cultural landscape. The Thought Pyramid Art Centre in Benin will persist in nurturing this vision".

The Founder said drawing from their proven promotional strategies that successfully transformed their art galleries in Lagos and Abuja, the centre is presently receiving minimum of 200 visitors daily from schools and art enthusiasts, which he promised to replicate in Edo State.

One of the invitees, a renowned world Curator, Chief Jimoh Braimoh said he was amazed with the kinds of art works he saw at the centre. "I'm happy to be in Benin City".

He also talk little about his art works and many countries he has visited to teach people in art works, including old people in old People's home.

On his part, one of the participating artist, Ada GodsPower said he was part of the show, adding that he has some art works he is presenting  to the RED BOOK exhibition. He further said that many of the works in the centre have something to do with Benin culture.
