The candidate representing Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Constituency for House of Representatives, on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Engr. Solomon Enoghase Emhonbotiti has lamented the marginalization Igueben Local Government Area have been subjected to in producing a National Assembly member.
Emhonbotiti made this known during an interview with the Groove Watch News in Benin City.
Engr. Amb. Amhonbotiti who is a Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, however, said this 2023 election will be an opportunity for the constituency to correct the injustice done to Igueben people by voting for him through the Labour Party to represent the Constituency at the National Assembly.
"I'm very confident of victory in this election, because of my acceptance across the three local governments that made up the constituency. The massive support i got from the people during my rallies was very high. During the period I also ensure Peter Obi visited Esanland on two occasions which signified that the Presidential candidate love Esan people. The Obidients movement and Labour Party is well accepted in Esanland".
Emhonbotiti said that Esan people were yearning for a change, adding that it is the Labour Party that can guarantee the change and development needed by the people of Esanland. He further said that it was the reason the Labour Party has sunddenly become a movement and tsunami that is sweeping across the country. He said he was very sure that labour party will take the lead when the election is conducted next Saturday.
On possible intimidation by other parties during the election, Emhonbotiti said he is the only treat as far as his election is concern, adding that since the majority of the people in his constituency are with him he has no fear of overcoming any challenges that may come his way. He said the more attacks he gets from social media the more his profile and that of the Labour Party's name is growing on a daily basis.
On the marginalization of Igueben in producing a member of the National Assembly, Emhonbotiti said that was the reason that brought him into the race, since his people have been Marginalized for 24 years, adding that Igueben have not had the opportunity to have a shot at the National Assembly, which he described as unacceptable and undesirable by his people.
He said that was the reason Igueben people came out en mass to vote during the last Presidential election and they had a resounding victory and got the highest votes from Igueben. He added that the ideology across party lines is that it is the turn of Igueben person to go to the National Assembly, and that person is his humble self.
