Protesters Shut Down Central Bank In Benin Over Scarcity Of Naira Notes

The Civil Society Group led by Comrade Leftis Omobude this morning shut down the Central Bank of Nigeria in Benin City over scarcity of the naira notes which has led millions of Nigerians into suffering.

The protesters who are presently occupying the entrance of the Central Bank of Nigeria are calling on the appropriate authority to make the new naira notes available to reduce the suffering of Nigerians who are presently going through hell just to access  their money. They also said that in the alternative they should start giving out 100, 50 and 20 naira notes respectively which they said it could also reduce the suffering.

Comrade Leftis Omobude, the spokesman of the group said it was delibrate attempt by the Central bank governor, Godwin Emiefele in conniver with the Federal Government to ubject the masses to untold hardship.

He said the group will remain at the entrance gate until the head of the Central Bank, Benin branch come out to address them on the situation, adding that it is inhuman to continue to allowed Nigerians to remain in this suffering.

All the vehicles plying Akpakpave from Ring Road were forced to follow Sakponba Road and other roads around the Ring road.

You will recalled that Nigerians have been suffering since the introduction of the new naira notes.
